V.A. Aid & Attendance Benefits Pre-planning, Care Management Agreements and Trusts—honorably discharged wartime veterans or their widow(er)s may be eligible to receive a tax-free, monthly, cash benefit for long term care in their own home, in an independent or assisted living facility, or in a nursing home. We provide documents for needs related to this process. Your actual application to the V.A. can take a few months; but, once approved, the benefit can be awarded in a lump-sum amount retroactive to the month following the date of application and will likely continue for the rest of the life of the recipient.
